A twist on the classic shepherd’s pie. This delicious vegan shepherd’s pie has been made using falafels and chillis for an Eastern taste.

Spicy vegan shepherds pie
A modern twist on a traditional dish, those vegan recipe is made with chillis, peppers and falafels
Ingredients
- 12 falafels
- ½ white onion, peeled and finely sliced
- ½ green pepper, chopped
- 1 sweet mini red pepper, chopped
- 1 sweet mini yellow pepper, chopped
- 2 green chilies
- 250 ml water
- 6 tbsp vegan gravy powder
- 2 large white potatoes
- 2 tbsp vegan butter
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 220°C
- Cook falafels in the microwave as per packet instructions.
- peel and finely slice onion and saute in the butter in a saucepan
- add the peppers and chilli, make the gravy and add to pan and the falafels and mash the mixture with a masher
- Cook the potatoes and mash with vegan butter, add salt and pepper to taste
- put the mash over the top of the falafel mixture. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes
